Pixels & Glory

Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 marked the first ever Pixels & Glory design competition, organized by GDGC (Graphic Design Group of Charlottetown) and held at Holland College.

Pixels & Glory is the first design competition of its kind to be held on Prince Edward Island and it's maiden voyage was an absolute success!

Contestants and spectators gathered in the colleges graphic design board room for coffee and snacks at 9:45. Mike Thomas, GDGC Lead and Holland College instructor introduced the concept at 10am and contestants were designing up a storm just a few minute later.

Competitors were not privy to the details of their project until design time and it was fascinating to walk around and observe all the different concepts they were able to accomplish in a short amount of time.

At 12:00, competitors put their cursors down, and judging began! While Tiffany, Stephanie, and I made the rounds judging the submissions based on a variety of technical requirements and general design principles, Mike and the crowd votes on the finished mockups! Competitors were not to vote for their own, and these scores were added to their final score at the end.

We ended with a clear first place win, a three-way tie for second place, and a third place finalist. Congratulations to our winners!

Stayed tuned for the next Pixels & Glory event!
